INTERVIEW WITH SIR KENAYO OF KENAYO.COM

HELLUR beautiful people, happy new mid month*winks* and welcome to another awesome interview session with one of the fast rising bloggers in Nigeria. We all know him as Sir Kenayo of Kenayo.com but is that all there is to him? Learn more, know more and if you have had a wrong view about him in the past, now is the time to CHANGE IT because this dude here is one amazing personality. YOU READY?????????????????

Suliat: Good afternoon Mister Popular, how are you doing today?

Kenayo: Good afternoon to you too,I’m fine, thank you.

Suliat: Great we have heard so much about you.Your name has become a household name especially in the University of Ibadan. So tell us,who is Sir Kenayo?

Kenayo: Well Kenayo is Kehinde Ayodeji, so “ken” is coined from Kehinde and “ayo” is gotten from my surname,Ayodedji. I am a University of Ibadan student,300 level,Sociology.

Suliat: How and when did the idea of a blog occur to you?

Kenayo: I think I like to write, initially that was what propelled me to start blogging,I had a passion for writing and so I would write in a jotter and sketch certain stuff. Later someone told me that there is something called wordpress,so I opened an account and started writing and blogging from there. The only reason I was serious with blogging then was the fact that I was always bored and I also had access to the internet from a very young age and so I took advantage of that.

Suliat: Nice. So what do you think makes your blog so different from other blogs?

Kenayo: Errr initially when I started blogging,my blog was basically about humor . In 2011,my blog got nominated in Nigeria Blog Award as Humor Blog of the year. What makes the blog distinct is our presentation,we try to make our news not too serious and so we present it in a cheerful, casual way everyone can relate with. If you check out the blog, you will see that there is a way we make out titles catchy. The blog is one of the few blogs in Nigeria that does music, videos, movies, series download,it has basically everything. We basically just make life easy,we know people love Empirer and some other interesting series,so what do we do? Instead of making them go through the stress of downloading on other sites and having to pay more,we just bring it to them.

Suliat: How do you plan on keeping the blog up after graduation?

Kenayo: Thank God for the blog,it is not really for students,it's for everyone, student or not. When I’m done with school,Wizkid would not tell me to stop posting, likewise Dbanj. So there really isn’t going to be any problem blogging after school.

Suliat: How do you combine blogging with school work?

Kenayo: It is very easy actually, just plan your time. Though the business suffers atimes,I could be very slow or late with my news but then I have extra hands. You can just make life easier for yourself and employ extra hands and plan your time well. Let’s say you have a class from 10 to 11,before then, put up something your blog, when you are done with class, put up something on your blog.

Suliat: What makes a successful blogger?

Kenayo: Being able to break news, being able to give people what they want. Most people just do copy and paste on their blogs,if you keep doing that, you would make no difference. So to me,being successful comes from your ability to stay in line and in tune with what goes on in your society. If D’banj drops a song today,as a good blogger, you are supposed to put it up within the next 5 minutes, that’s the way we run the blog here but if you are posting it 48hours later, you will be seen as being unserious because by then almost everyone would have downloaded it. So you have to keep track of things that are happening around you and then remain updated and connected to the internet.

Suliat: So what are the challenges you face as a blogger?

Kenayo: In the time past when I started blogging,I had the problem of web hosting. It was so expensive at the beginning,I didn’t really know much about web hosting and so I was exploited by the guy hosting for me. There is something called bandwith and domain name and so he would call me to tell me my bandwith had expired. Then I could pay for the same thing twice in a month and so I fell for their scam continuously. I also didn’t know how to gauge my traffic and so I couldn’t decipher how much traffic I was supposed to have and so I could pay for 10,000 viewers in a month when infact I had 20,000 and then at the middle of the month,my site would go offline. So I was just running at a loss at that period and then the internet was also a problem, the broadband was very pathetic and we still face that challenge even now. There is also this problem that comes with having people on your team, dispute arise over different views and then threat of pulling out surfaces, leaving you to face all the problems by yourself. Another problem is getting people to know about your blog and read it.

Suliat: Yeah right,so true. So tell us,what do you think of President Buhari and his idea of change as regards probing senators and his war against corruption?

Kenayo: Alright, right from the start,I didn’t like the President. I thought he was coming to seek revenge and so I voted for GEJ.You know now during Jonathan’s time, dollar was very high*winks*,it was 240 and it was good for me,now it’s 225. I get paid in dollars,so the higher it is,the higher my profit is. Believe me,let’s put sentiments aside,if you are earning in dollar, you won’t really be worried about the rate exchange. But then, back to Buhari,I thought he was going to be a dictator because he once was. But then the idea of him probing people is very ni ce. Our leaders need this. I mean imagine this Deziani woman, the amount of money she stole is so outrageous. We all know it is inevitable, they all keep money for theselves, they steal with brain but when it starts getting so noticeable, then are overdoing it and they should be punished.Light is better now infact if you check my fridge, you are not going to see a drop of water, everything there is iced. So I agree and think Buhari is good for us,he is working. Probing is going to curtail their greed. EFCC,ICPC can’t do much and so with this new method, the politicians will always have it in mind that once they steal or embezzle money, they will be probed. By the way Diezani stole billion of dollars that can feed generations,if I want to steal,I will settle for just 700 million naira,at least that’s like a drop compared to the ocean she stole..lol..just joking oh. Anyway, once they know that there is someone watching them, they would be able to steal with sense and then give back to us.

Suliat: *laughs out loud* Okay oooo. So do you think we should expect more from Buhari or do you rather think he might stop at a point in time, seeing that some people think he is going too fast or better still, this could be an act,so he makes second term.

Kenayo: Forget second term oh,baba don old. I’m not saying he is going to die sha but you know certain things come with old age, dementia and some other things. I mean there was a time he was with Obama and he wanted to say APC,he mentioned the name of his former party, there were lot of discrepancies in what he was saying. However,I believe he is strong,he is going to keep fighting hard for what he believes in and I believe if a better person step into his shoes when he is gone,by the time I am 30 years of age,Nigeria should be where we want her to be,let’s just pray I'm not over 30 by then. Anyhow,by then we would be chilling and balling.*chuckles*

Suliat: *laughs*,let us talk about your award, how many awards have you won?

Kenayo: I don’t know, can’t remember, and don’t get me wrong oh,I am not saying it’s uncountable but then I don’t keep count. There were some I didn’t go for and reason is majorly because I don’t really like to be seen. How many times have you seen me even here in school? I am shy,but people don’t understand that and they take that for pride. They really cant differentiate between a proud dude and one that just likes keeping to himself.

Suliat: Are you an introvert?

Kenayo: I won’t call myself that because I relate well with people once we are acquainted. I have noticed people tend to watch me a lot, they do that to find something to say,so the best way to give them nothing to say is by keeping to myself but that is also so impossible cos when you try that, they even say worse. If I greet too much,it is called “famzing”,if I don’t,it is pride,if I’m driving and I greet, they say I am just trying to show off my new car,if I’m driving and I don’t greet,I am just arrogant that was even the main reason I had to go and tint my car windows,so I won’t have to greet anybody. At least if they don’t see my face, they won’t know it is me.

Suliat: *laughs*people would always talk. So tell us ,what keeps you going, what makes you tick, what brings the inspiration?

Kenayo: MONEY!...*laughs* don’t let me lie. Jesus gives me inspiration *chuckles* initially it was the passion , I mean I didn’t even know there was money in blogging, I never knew till when a girl pinged me one day to ask that I post her song on my blog. After that, she asked for my account number and I was like “for what” and then she was like to “pay you for your work now”. I was like "Oh,Wow! So they pay people for this?" So after the “passionate part’’ of me took a seat , money became the drive and so everything I do now, I ask myself, “what am I going to gain from this?” Be it song posting or advertisement , what do I get from it either in cash or exchange of services. Passion won’t build you a house or buy you a car,it won’t do lot of things for you after a while. I blogged for fun for like two years till someone noticed me and thought me cool. Blogging is actually fun for me though, there was a time my folks used to beg me to leave the house cos I was always on my laptop. I just found it cool ,being in a corner ,talking to millions of people across the world. However ,my drive was making people happy, relaxed through my less serious, informal blog and that brought about my 1st blog. Also my readers drive me to do more. For instance, there was this day I was walking on campus and a guy suddenly approached me and was like, ”guy ,you haven’t posted in two weeks ,what’s up?” and I was like “Oh, Wow! so you guys actually anticipate”. So things like that actually makes you not want to mess up.

Suliat: Oookaii. So tell us about the most embarrassing moment of your life.

Kenayo: You see ehn, in 100 level, attention wasn’t really on me like that but I was kind of popular. So one day, I woke up, got up from my bed to go take my bath and prepare for CHE 157 but there was no water. So I picked my bucket to go fetch from the tap. I don’t know what happened to my boxers oh ,it sha tore, and my bum was showing. Thank God it was a male hostel, Kuti hall. So I carried my keg oh. One boy now saw me, he did not even call me to a private place to tell me ,he just said “guy, your yansh is showing oh.” I ran back upstairs sha and changed. This things happen jare, there are times that people forget to zip, so everyone has his or her own moment. But people did not really see oh, they didn’t ,I’m very certain.

Suliat:*laughs out loud* so tell us about the worst date of your life, a date gone bad?

Kenayo: Dates? I don’t really go on dates, the dates you see around here is the “ventura kind of date” ,see a movie, grab pop corns. I have never really had an embarrassing date before. I don’t go out with wasteful or uncouth girls,I mean no guy wants a girl that keeps asking for more and can’t control her mouth or appetite but then if such ever happens sef, there ia always an ATM somewhere and a card in hand.

Suliat: Oh,but what if you have set aside a certain amount to spend and don’t intend spending more? What if you don’t even have money in your account but then the girl keeps ordering? Have you met a girl like that?

Kenayo: Yes oh,but I won’t mention her name before they say I’m proud. But then, in such cases, you have no choice but to withdraw, how much stuff does she wanna eat that I cant afford? Jesus has covered that. *chuckles* and about not having money in my account, that is not possible, Jesus has already covered that for me. But then I don’t like to go out with girls that are too materialistic,so I take out girls that are sensible in their dealings.

Suliat: *laughs out loud* Okay o. So how do you think girls regard you?

Kenayo: I think they hate me!

Suliat: Haaa! Why? What makes you think they do?

Kenayo: I don’t know how to answer this question, but I was just kidding earlier when I said that. I don’t think they hate me. I don’t know but I think any young guy that is fairly presentable, fairly ambitious and fairly successful wouldn’t be loathed by girls. I don’t know oh, it’s just what I think. Or better still, does this count? You passing by and you see three girls sitting and tapping themselves,do you think it means they like you or otherwise?

Suliat: of course,it means the babes are tripping but then it could be bad also. But then, knowing your kind of person,do you think they say good things about you?*winks*

Kenayo: Judging from what I have heard, they are good things. Apart from the fact that I have heard I am a player,I think most girls like me. The ones that don’t are those who think I am proud. Okay let me ask you this,do you get turned on by successful and hardworking guys?

Suliat: Yeah,sure.

Kenayo: Right, then you have answered for all girls. Which means they like me and regard me highly. Smart girls though, not the ones that are usually looking for one baba driving G-wagon somewhere.

Suliat: *chuckles*. Okay o. Play boy or Good boy as regards what girls think of guys in University of Ibadan? Because believe me,most girls here are usually like they can never date a guy in UI.

Kenayo: It’s a lie, don’t mind them, those girls that usually say that,we know what’s up oh. See we try, yeah we do but then for someone like me, Yosola(YSL), we are quite popular and so people will assume rather quickly. So let’s say I have a girlfriend and I want to be loyal to her, there is always that girl lurking somewhere and then makes it difficult for you. For me,if a girl likes me,I have to like her back because I don’t like hurting people’s feelings. I mean who will read the blog for you, send bcs for you? See girls are not nice, keep turning the down or chasing them away and they will spoil business for you. Who will do the work for you then? So I think the best thing for you is just to stay single or strike a convenient deal with a girl who is not a talker. Just kidding oh. But sha,I am not a player,I am just a cool person, a good boy. Okay, let’s just say I am in between. I have so many female friends, that doesn’t mean I am a player, but in UI,they like to assume too much. Lift a girl, drop her in front of her hall and before you knowing it,people start saying something must have gone down. These are some of the things you have to cope with in UI,but at least I will soon be done.

Suliat: Yeah, right. So tell us Kenayo,do you think you are a people’s man or otherwise?

Kenayo: Well,I don’t really know….err…how do I explain this? Thing is you cannot be you for everybody . A set of people will surely like me, some won’t ,others would be indifferent. It is to be expected but then on the average, I would say I’m for the people ,by the people..*laughs* I don’t know sha but judging from my last birthday party,I had over 120 people in attendance cos we made 100 pieces of chicken from Jay,it ran out and some people were still coming to say ,they hadn’t eaten. So judging from that, I don’t know how naïve that might look or sound,I think I am a people’s person. Let’s say half of the people sha,we are still trying to convince the other half that we are not proud. But then I think once you are successful and you have little change, some people just hate you for no reason. Atimes ,you would just ask someone why he or she hates you and the he or she goes like,”err,I don’t know,he didn’t actually do anything but then I just don’t like the boy”. I just feel they just don’t understand me and if you dec ide to prove people wrong and talk to them too much, they start crossing their boundary and they disrespect you. Therein lies the problem because I love to have my respect.

Suliat: That is very true. I guess you should just stick to being yourself. Alright, let’s take this a little personal. Who is the lucky girl?

Kenayo: Lucky girl?girls are always fucking up oh. You think you have found one lucky girl and then days later, you fightand break up. But please i’m single, don’t come and spoil parole for me. My mum is the lucky girl, whrn I find the lucky girl, you people will start seeing her pictures on instagram or on the blog when we announce the wedding date..

Suliat: *laughs out loud* So what is the most awkward rumor you ever heard about yourself?

Kenayo: Yahoo yahoo oooo. After I got my car, weeks later,I heard I was doing yahoo yahoo. UI people though,I’m tired of you guys. EPs is what you guys are. When somebody was hustling that year, nobody saw oh,when I was saving money, they didn’t see me then oh,now that I have a car,I'm doing yahoo yahoo but God dey sha.

Suliat: *chuckles*,sorry about that, quite funny though. So apart from blogging, what do you do?

Kenayo: Apart from blogging,I do PR for artiste , social media analyst for companies,I set trend on twitter, I run online campaign for brands and I was recently certified by Google.

Suliat: Wow! that is great. So Kenayo, just where do you see yourself in 5 years time?

Kenayo: I see myself having a house,a home, would have added marriage but after much thoughts and calculation, that isn’t feasible. In 5 years,I should have an office, step out from the online jobs but before then,I want to go into digital marketing, brand building and start big works generally. By then I should be handling big campaigns in the world.I don’t want to be the male version of Linda Ikeji though,I want to try other things out apart from blogging. I want to try my hands on business. Let’s just see how it goes. Blogging pays a lot though,my car is strictly from blogging money. Lets say my monthly income can be compared to that which a UI doctor gets monthly. I just want to be rich in 5 years time,a billionaire, that’s the dream. I also want to have a snail farm, just want to delve into agriculture, have people work for me.

Suliat: Na you o,jack of all things that drags the dough in. So please,a word of advise to the Nigerian youths.

Kenayo: Stop doing yahoo yahoo. Let people like me be free to drive our cars down the streets of Bodija without being harassed by the police for being too young and cool. There are other things you can do one the internet that are not illegal, try that out or get a job. Let us also learn to create work for ourselves, hustle justly, make clean money and face your books while still in school even if you will hustle.

Suliat: Thank you so much Kehinde Ayodeji, Sir Kenayo. It has really been a pleasure talking to you. Do you have anything to say to TheFACET readers?

Kenayo: Yes,I do. To the readers, stay tuned, always come back to this blog. It is unique. Enjoy it and support them in any way you can, send bcs on their behalf and tell a friend to tell a friend, let the cycle flow. Thank you.

And that would be all on Star column for today. I hope you didn’t blink while reading that? If you did,go back and read again. Till next time,we remain TheFACET,intertwining and connecting people from all walks of life. Muchaha!

THE CRUSH ALERT

There are two types of alerts that brightens a girl’s day or week. These are the ”Bank alert” and the “crush alert”. While the bank alert fattens your pocket or wallet, the latter stretches your heart beyond limit and if care is not taken,a shattered heart might just be the next happening situation.

So this is how it goes, you run into a hot hunk on a cold morning while jogging, your eyes meet and you suddenly feel like he can see into the deepest part of your soul. There is a connection,he might not feel it but you do. Better still,he does but decides not to act on it and then smiles at you, flashing a white set of well arranged teeth your way, throwing you a wink at the same time and then jogs on. Your heart beat loses its rythym and turns into a parade sorta beat, you blush and scream inwardly,”OMFG,dude is haaaawwwwt!”. Your brain screams ATTRACTION BUT your mind screams CRUSH. However I call this DEATH and this kind of guy,I call DEVIL. I mean why would you look so sweaty in cute joggers and tight hugging tees, get my heart "over pumping" blood vigorously only to jog on. EXCUSE ME???

I find the social media crush amusing you know. I mean why crush on a dude on twitter, instagram or whatever, like his pictures and even save and use on bbm and whatsapp as your NCA only to have him not follow you at all or unfollow you. Dude doesn’t even know you exist madam, wake up,that alert is clearly not for you.

A type of crush I find rather disheartening is one you have on a guy with a girlfriend. Now usually in this case, the girl or bae is usually so beautiful. Like pretty, cute and amazing. Be sure to check out the body,KILLING! These duo can be referred to as the “star couple”,so YOU crushing on the dude is just unacceptable to ‘”US” and my dear you would just be torturing yourself cos even IF he looks your way,he is just probably checking out the level you are on as compared to his girl. Move on!

Now there is this kinda crush that screams funny and weird. It is one you develop towards a guy whom you claim to totally dislike.lol. Many girls do this, scream at a guy, mock him when with friends but secretly crush and kiss his picture before going to bed at night. This is why it is called a WEIRD CRUSH. Everytime you see him you brain screams INCOMING ALERT!!! But you push him away in public which makes me wonder when you are gonna get the courage to give your frog a kiss.

Now crushing on your friend’s brother/brother’s friends is something else entirely. You go on a visit to your friend’s place and hear the deep timbre to her brother’s voice only for him to appear and leave you stuttering and drooling. Your brain screams alert! WIPE THAT SPITTLE OFF YOUR MOUTH OLD GURL,DUDE’S GOT A BAE*winks*

Crushing on your lecturer is another common thing but an old lecturer, driver, gardner or your old man’s friend making alert ring/sound in your brain is so not good for your health,so cut it out.

Finally, you meet a guy you are attracted to,you get lucky and become friends, stuffs get going, smooth and suave, the alert is received,CRUSH ALERT!!! It reads,a decision is left to be made. Tell him and get him mad OR shut up and stay as friends…....

Before you start thanking me for reading your mind and providing a lasting solution to this problem at hand which is the major problem girls face nowadays,I’m gonna tell you this- I HAVE GOT NO ANSWER OR SOLUTION TO YOUR DILENMA,ALL I CAN SAY IS DO WHAT YOU FEEL IS RIGHT.

By the way old guy,let me let you in on a little secret, once your girl starts using NCA on her pm or status,BE SCARED cos it only means one thing-NEW CRUSH ALERT!!!*wicked grin*

My dear girls,if you like Lucifer Cynister, you needn’t go through much agony,TELL HIM. Ich liebe dich*winks* stay loved….muah!

WEIRD FEELINGS: PHOBIA

Everyone feels anxious from time to time. This can be in different situations such as writing as exam, travelling, entering a lane for the first time, etc and then you begin to feel uneasy, you start sweating on your palms, your heart starts to beat fast or you start shaking. However, when your anxiety is so serious, that can lead to having phobia.
Phobia is an anxiety order characterized by extreme and irrational fear of simple things or social situations. A lot of people, in fact almost everyone has something he or she is afraid of. Many of us have fears about particular objects or situations and this is perfectly normal. A fear becomes a phobia if it lasts for more than six months, and has a significant impact on how you live your day-to-day life.
This can be caused by fear and anxiety when faced with situations that you are afraid of. If this is severe, the objects you think of can cause phobia. Such physical symptoms are chest pain, dizziness unsteadiness, hot or cold flushes, nausea, trembling and shaking. Other symptoms include feeling out of touch, a fear of losing control or dying. It these symbols are very intense, they could trigger a panic attack. Experiencing this type of acute fear is extremely unpleasant and can be very frightening.
Phobias can be categorized into specific phobia and complex phobias. The specifics are often developed in the childhood or adolescence stage and for many people they will lesson as they get older. However, you may still experience fear and anxiety even when the object or situation is not present. Examples are heights, spiders, water, darkness, blood, vomits, injections, etc
The complex phobias are the phobias that tend to have more disabling impact on your life than specific phobias. They tend to develop when you are an adult. Social and agrophobia (fear of open space) are the two most common complex phobias. It may be connected one specific situation such as speaking, or it may be that you are afraid of talking to or being around other people.
People ask if there are cures to phobia or if there is any treatment for phobias, but the most prevalent treatment is to focus on helping people or yourself to deal with it. Some methods are: medications, exposure therapy and behaviour therapy. If you think it is getting out of hand, then visit the hospital. You can check out your phobia with the meanings.

TUNMIKE'S PAIN - LOST HOPE

She suddenly felt like like she was drowning, she tried opening her eyes but couldn’t . She felt the sharp pain again, she tried moving her legs but couldn’t,waving her arms was almost impossible. Her bones ached and it seemed like ice cubes had hidden in her joints.

“I cant afford to die now lord,I still have lot to do, save me.”

Someone must have seen her arms at that moment because strong hands suddenly lifted her out of the pool. She blanked out.

She opened her eyes slowly and closed it almost immediately.

“let down the curtains”,she heard a voice say gently.

Few seconds later, she opened her eyes and met her mother’s tears swollen eyes. Pain twisted her guts as she thought of her mother’s pain and trials .Her mother immediately gave into tears and ran out of the room. Her 3year old sister stood up from the corner where she was building bricks, walked towards her and gazed lovingly at her,she took her hands in hers and sang “Amazing grace” in the the finest voice her 3 year old voice box could muster.

“Ma’am taught us in church yesterday. She said it is a song that tells us about God’s love and that it saves. You won’t cos die Aunty Tunmike,Jesus told me in my dream that he loves you.”

She smiled and squeezed her sister’s little hands gently, she then pulled her closer for a kiss. ‘’call me mama Anita.’’

Her sister returned her smile and gave her another kiss on the mouth. Tunmike watched as her sister skipped away as she called for her mum to come join them.

She felt the pain again like a surge of electricity. She reached for the glass of water on the table beside her. Just then her mother walked into her room looking refreshed. She had obviously just had her bath and had regained her color. Her mother sat beside her and gave her a peck,”I love you Tunmike, you have stayed this long and I won’t lose you now. You will be fine,we are going to get a donor very soon.” She smiled at her mother and raised herself up for a tight hug.

She so much wished she could believe her mother, she so much wished she could be share Anita’s optimism but they still hadn’t found someone with matching stem cells. She had lived for 21 years, every birthday was a rather noisy events. Family and friends always came around during such times to celebrate her survival and to thank God for her life even though some came to see for themselves and certify that she could make it through the next year. She slumped on her 21st birthday and that was when the doctor suggested a lasting solution,”Find someone with matching stem cells who is willing to donate some and we can work with that. This is the ultimate solution, your daughter would never experience the pains of a sickle cell patient again.” Her mother and sister had undergone series of test but there was no match. The search had begun but all efforts to find a willing donor had proven abortive. Her mother never gave up though but she could tell her faith was weakening.

“Mama, for how long was I out?”

Her mother loosened her hold and lowered her back unto the bed.”Three days. You came around this morning.”

She had gone out with her friends to the pool that Friday. It was her best friend’s birthday and she went into the pool against all protests from her friends. “Don’t tell me what to do”,she had said to them. They later joined her though, they had no choice. She smiled when she remembered her best friend’s last words,”I love you bestie but I hate your stubbornness, get in but you ain’t spending more than twenty minutes in there and your time starts now!”

“By the way,Amira called to check on you and to say she would be back this evening. She has been here since Friday also. She left with your doctor friend this morning to sign in at work. Tolu also called,he would be flying in today,he should be here by midnight.”

She smiled at the mention of her lover’s name. Tolu was the best gift God had given to her after her mother and sister ofcourse. After Tolu, came her best friend,Amira. They were the only true lovers apart from her mother and sister and she loved them more than life itself. She had willingly given herself to Tolu days after she slumped on her 21st birthday. That was after she had realized the impossibility of finding a matching donor. She had kept it a secret from her friend and her lover . It wasn’t even 100 percent sure and it was only 14 percent safe so why stress them out mentally and risk her own life in the process. “Make me your woman my love”,she had said to him that night. She smiled at the memories of what went down that night.

Her phone suddenly rang, her mother handed it over to her with a wink and left the room. “I’m only few steps away from you baby girl, just holla and I will be back”. She laughed at her mother’s newly adopted lingo. “this woman no wan grow old again sha”,she thought laughing out loud.

“Oko mi,Olowo ori mi,how far now” She said into the phone.

“Tunmike, you took ill again my love,I was scared,I couldn’t even talk to you. You were out for 3days. I’m on my way to your place,I need to be with you.”

“Guy,what about your conference in Berlin now?”

“A conference when my heart is on a sick bed? I left Germany yesternight ,I’m on my way to your place now.”

Tears stung her eyes as she wondered why God had given her such a great man.

“Why didn’t I meet you when I was 16? I could have been able to spend more time with you, more years. I met you two years ago but I so wish we had met 5 years ago.”

He became quiet for some seconds and she wondered what the sound he made was.

“Shuuuush you,we are going to get married soon and we are going to spend lots of years together with our children.” His voice changed and took an hoarse turn.

She smiled at his optimism. Marriage?she wished and children? he had said, the children she wished to have but would never be able to for even if she survived, she just couldn’t imagine bringing her kids to the world to face the same fate.

“are you crying Tolu?your voice sounds weird of a sudden.”

He took some time to reply,”no love,at all.”

“I love you baby”she said into the phone.

“always baby, always”he said as he opened the door to her room, phone still glued to his ear.

She gasped and smiled as she took him in. Her tall handsome lover, sleek and suave, loving and caring.

“You prankster!” she said as she threw a small pillow at him.

“And is that how to greet the noble knight who flew many hours across the globe to see his dame?”

“Ojebi” she said and pulled her tongue out.

Tolu took in her lean figure and shivered. He couldn’t lose her,not now, never. He moved closer to her bedside and kissed her as though his life depended on it. He looked into her eyes and told her about his trip and the fun places he was planning to take her to for vacation. “you need to take some time off work my love.” like he had always said. She thought she needed it also. She did agree that she had always overdone it but she loved her job and would not be treated like an invalid or a disable.

“Okay,so when are we going?”she asked,surprising him.

He was surprised,he had always begged her to slow down and now,she finally agreed. Words couldn’t describe how happy he was..,”next month,Paris and Venice.”

Paris and Venice, she had always wanted her honeymoon in those beautiful cities. She wondered if she should ask him about how he got to know she would love to go there. “Chill, did i?”

He suddenly went down on his knees and produced a ring with a large diamond on it. "Marry me" he said. The streak of bright light penetrated her eyes and she immediately closed it. When her eyes finally gotaround accommodating the jewel, she stared wildly and screamed,”How much did you buy that?return it and get something smaller”

He laughed so hard and she finally joined in.

“Marry me silly girl before I change my mind, you know I’m proud” he said teasingly.

Tears finally escaped and flowed down her face.

“I love you so much Tolu mi”

“you’ve got no choice baby cos now you are stuck to me forever.”and he sealed their silent vow with a kiss. In between their kiss,he raised his head and said,”mind you,I already asked mum and she joyfully gave her blessings .You had think she was the one I proposed to.”

She laughed and whispered a thank you to God.

*********************************************************

It was her wedding morning. Tolu wanted them to wed quickly so she could take a break and so the wedding was fixed for 3weeks after he proposed. She had just dropped his call when Amira waltzed into the room.

“You are the most beautiful angel heaven lost to man and I’m happy to famz you. I would have continued dishing out compliments but my dear your prince awaits. That fish called to profess his love in church oh,he just didn’t tell you. He is such a dear. So get off your butt and go kiss your prince in church.”

She grabbed her friend’s arm ,”I love him Amira”

“I know madam, you wouldn’t consider walking down that aisle in few minutes if you didn’t.” Amira said as she turned to get her clutch.

“I’m scared Amira”

Amira stylishly dabbed at the drop pf tears that had escaped from her eyes and then turned back to her friend, giving the brightest smile she could muster,”you will be fine Tunmike.”

She took her hand and they walked out of the room.

FEW MINUTES LATER…….

And seeing that there is no objection to the union of these two,I hereby join you in the name of the Father, the son and the holyghost. You may now kiss your bride.

Tolu swept his bride into his arms and gave a mind blowing kiss,a sharp, familiar pain surged through her. Her vision became blurry, she couldn’t make out her lover’s face, she tried to take deep breaths but found that so impossible. The pain she felt couldn’t be compared to the ones she had felt in the past.

“HELP US!!!” Tolu screamed.

The congregation gathered around them ,the last voice she heard above the noice was that of her husband telling her everything would be alright.

*********************************************************

She opened her eyes to the white walls of the hospital. Tolu,Amira and her mother were speaking in low tones. Her sister rushed to her side and gave her the flowers she had been holding as the little bride during the wedding. “Hello sis,you are not going to die,are you?” she asked innocently.

She tried to talk only to find out that she was receiving oxygen. She lifed the breather a little and said “of course not”,after which she smiled and returned the breather to its position. She then pointed at her husband and told her sister to call him. Anita moved away from her bed side and tapped her new uncle.

“She is calling you unc Tolu.”

He looked her way and gave a weak smile. “she is awake,my love is back”,he said to her mother and best friend.

They all moved towards her and offered a prayer of thanksgiving. She removed her breather for some minutes and addressed her family.

“I love you mama, you are the best woman in the world. Amira, words cant tell how wonderful and great you have been. Anita, come here baby.” Her sister moved closer and she gave her tight hug and kiss, the show of affection evoked tears. “So excuse me y’all,I wanna talk to the boo before I send you all home for the night. “

They stood up to leave and she called after them to bring her change of clothes in the morning.. She stared at her husband with tears in her eyes. He hugged her and moved back to avoid making her uncomfortable on the bed. She removed her breather and pulled him closer. She kissed him for long before she started gasping for breath which made her return her breather to its position. She took deep breaths and slided it off her nose again to talk.

“I love you ife mi,don’t ever forget that. I want an epitaph saying,”I wish I didn’t have to leave so soon but I will forever be in your hearts.”

“NO! NEVER!!!” her husband screamed. “you ain't leaving me,our unborn kids need you,I do too. Ife mi you have to stay with me. Please don’t leave.”he cried.

His tears hurt her,”but I don’t want to leave,I want to stay but I’m in pain,It’s unbearable,I’m so weak,I hurt so much.”

Her confession made him cry so much,he slid her breather back across her nose and kissed her palm.

“You have to go now, come check me tomorrow.”she said.

He refused till she slept off. He woke up in the midnight to find no signal or wave on the patient bedside monitor.

“DOCTOR!NURSE!!! SAVE HER!! I NEED HER,SAVE MY WIFE PLEASE!!!”

The doctor and nurse looked at him in pity. “I’m sorry sir but she is gone,we lost her.”

His tears shook the foundations of the earth that day,the earth had sent back heaven’s angel.

THE END

"Yes, I'm Single."

"Yes,I'm single! Yes I'm free!! My life is drama free now!!! This is what my single ladies out there think and ofcourse what you want to believe, but in the innermost part of your heart, you know you are as bored as a lonely man in the dessert, well thats even if he can survive there, lol! Because there are just some things you can't say or do with anybody else other than your partner, the one guy you have got an incurable addiction to.
This might seem odd to you but its just the plain truth. Well there are different reasons why a young lady would want to remain single but generally its very common that most single ladies choose to try to explore their single life after an almighty heart break!

So because you have gone through an heart break at some point in your life and it didnt go so well with you,you become overwhelmed with fear of the same thing repeating itself if you try to love again. You are scared of trusting because you feel you might trust a person and when things are down they forget you,but maybe they dont forget you, they just forget to remember you. Someone who was not even meant for you broke your heart or fell out of love with you,you stopped trusting but I think that seems like a sort of a dumb thing to do!

You want to keep your heart to yourself
because you think it might get cheated on or broken again,it won't really help because when you finally decide to use it again especially after a very long time it might be no good again. You know,it's just like you keeping a newly bought pair of shoes that you really like because you are scared it will wear out,but after keeping it for long,at the end you will out grow it and you wunt be able to rock and show it off again!

Okay, you feel you dont want to use your heart,if you dont use it,nobody even cares then if its gets broken or not,if you keep it to yourself,it may be like the shoes eventually and I bet none of you pretty heart single ladies wants that.

You all should take the chance of loving again, just follow the star in your heart, your heart might still be broken but it isnt gone. Well it is not really a crime if you decide to take a break from the whole dating drama but dont let it take forever with you being overwhelmed with fear so you dont miss the opportunity of finding that perfect gentle man for you 'cause i really do believe they still exist.. (To the guys;please stop being a jerk and prove to these pretty hearts that you are worth a try).

And ofcourse, when you finally decide to follow the star in your heart,go through the right directions and build love with its basics with the person that feels right from your heart.

Its not really much fun when you dont have someone to share with, only if you have exceptional reasons of being single other than fear.

Is Our Management Thirsty For Blood?

We have heard of students lynching their fellow students for various crimes,we have witnessed justice being served,we have witnessed the death of our colleagues even in the spirit of Aluta, but death at the hand of our own school management?IMPOSSIBLE!

Well that was my expression,my response when I read this piece.
Private Universities have always been referred to as "Glorified Secondary Schools",reason is not far fetched. Should we talk about the way students in private schools are caged and restricted? Or perhaps is it the way they are not allowed to wear what they want, eat what they want or use the kind of gadget they would love to.
And all because of what? To preserve morals, integrity, norms and values but to what extent?
Hypocrisy is what I call this.

Why would I pay so much money, risk expulsion when I try to breathe air, fresh air instead of the little amount of oxygen I get in my "cage",only for me to be treated like an animal, dragged out of my bed on a cold night to an unknown destination, beaten to the point of death and almost left to die, uncatered for?

This is the story of two students of Madonna University,Enugu, who were beaten to the point of death, denied treatment and justice.
Read to the end,thank you.
Two students of Madonna University, Akpugo Campus,
Enugu State, have told the horrifying story of torture
they suffered in the hands of key officials of the tertiary
institution.

The duo, Stanley Okoye, 23, a final year Civil
Engineering student and Ga-Lim Aondofa Lord, escaped
death by the whiskers after they were allegedly
abducted from their rooms February 3, 2015, in the dead
of the night, in commando fashion, by the Chief
Security Officer of the university, Okey Ogbonna and
the Dean of Student Affairs, Rev. Fr. Isaac Nginga, a
Catholic priest, in company of others and taken to a
secluded area on the campus, where they were tortured,
brutalized, dehumanised and left to die, but through
divine intervention, they lived to tell the story.

Though they survived the ordeal, they are still
undergoing treatment for the almost fatal injuries they
received in the hands of their tormentors. For instance,
Stanley still needs to undergo special surgery in
Germany on the spine to repair a major damage inflicted
on him while the torture lasted. Aondofa suffered a
dislocated jaw that required having his jaws held
together with special dental wire to allow the injury
heal. The duo would for the rest of their lives bear the
burden of the deep psychological scars imprinted on
their minds by the experience.

Meanwhile, they are still battling to get the results of
their degree examinations released. Accompanied by
their parents, the victims who visited The Sun office in
Onitsha gave a chilling account of what they passed
through in the campus, and revealed the alleged moves
by the university management to cover up the truth.
In the heartbreaking and graphic account of what
happened that fateful night they were abducted, Stanley
Okoye recounted that he was woken up from sleep
around midnight by one Mr. Kingsley, the school’s Sub-
Dean, Mr. Ola, their hall representatives, Mr. Wisdom,
Mr. Somtoo and Ogbonna Okey, who is the university
chief security officer (CSO), all of whom were
accompanied by the Dean of Students Affairs, Rev. Fr.
Isaac Nginga. He was then bundled into a Toyota
4runner SUV and taken to a bushy end of the campus
where their ordeal began.
Continuing, Stanley said: “These people were
accompanied that night by an armed soldier, who is
among our security guards in school. First, they asked
for the room number of my friend and classmate, Lord
Ga-Lim and I told them. They picked him up from his
hostel and forced both of us into the vehicle. They first
drove us to the administrative building and we alighted.
Without any question, they descended on us after
commanding us to lie down on the gravel. It was Rev.
Father Isaac who hit us first with his belt, and the
others then joined. They beat us with military belts,
planks, batons, iron, stones and other dangerous
weapons they could lay their hands on; they dealt
mercilessly with us.
“All the while they were treading on us as we lay on
the sharp, rough gravel. Not even our plea for mercy or
cries for help could melt their hearts. Fr. Isaac even
commanded the military officer to shoot us if we
attempted to run away. In fact, the soldier fired the
shot but narrowly missed me. I was coughing out blood
and bleeding profusely but Ogbonna, the CSO hit me
with his elbow and I fell down again.
“In that state, I was forced into the trunk of the Lexus
SUV of Fr. Isaac; I memorized the registration number
ENU 525 CP. My friend was forced into a Toyota
4Runner SUV driven by Rev. Fr. Mamah. With us in the
trunk, they moved with crazy speed and even drove past
the university security post without stopping. The road
was very bad. Even though I was almost slipping into
unconsciousness, I still heard the shrill voices of
security men at the gate and flashing of lights at them
telling them to stop. I later realized that the people
were policemen on patrol who suspected the manner of
the vehicular movement. That night, our tormentors
took us to Agbani police station.
“A police officer on duty at the station asked them
whether we were involved in accident but they didn’t
answer. In that state, I told the police that we were
attacked by the same people, who brought us to the
station and the police told them to take us to a
specialist hospital or else we would die but they just
took us back to the campus and dumped us in the
campus clinic. I was in pains and we were struggling to
hang on to life. They only gave us painkillers and sleep
inducing drugs. It was one of the nurses who saw our
condition that night that I whispered my mother’s
number into her ears and she used her phone, after
hiding the number, to notify my parents about our
plight.
“While we were in the hospital, they confiscated our
phones, laptops and all our friends and roommates’
phones and communication gadgets to ensure that
information about us did not leak to the outside commu
nity. We were dying in installments. On February 5, I
was woken up by the CSO, who told me that my father
was at the gate and wanted to see me. My dad was
shocked when he saw my condition. When he tried to
take a picture of me, they seized his camera and
smashed it on the ground. After heated argument
between my dad and the people at the gate, they
immediately bundled my friend and myself to the Elele
campus of the university in Rivers State, in the dead of
the night without the knowledge of my father. We were
in the hospital at Elele for about seven weeks shut out
from the people and still under police watch even on
our hospital bed. We underwent several surgeries
because the doctor confirmed that my zygomatic bone
close to the spine was fractured. My friend had
fractures on the lower and upper jaws.
I fainted when I saw my son –Okoye
Narrating how he heard about his son’s ordeal and the
frustrations he encountered in the course of seeking
justice for the victimized students, Chief Okoye told
Sunday Sun that he was in Lagos when his wife called
him from their Abuja home.

His words: “My wife informed me that she received a
distress call. Only God can describe the trauma we
passed through that night before daybreak. I left Lagos
for Enugu with first flight, abandoning all I came to do in
Lagos, but I never knew that I was in for the greatest
shock of my life. On getting to the school gate, I was
denied entry by the security people and left stranded for
four hours. When I noticed that the matter was no more
a small issue not to talk of the uncertainty surrounding
my son’s life, knowing that his phone was already
permanently switched off, I sought for external help
through the military. It was the high command at the 82
Division of the Nigerian Army, Enugu that assisted me
before they could allow me to enter and stay by the
side of the gate while they went to fetch my son. When
they brought him, I fainted, upon seeing his condition.
“After regaining composure a bit, I asked him who did
that to him and he pointed out the CSO, the Rev Father
and some others. I wanted to take his picture in that
state for practical evidence but to my surprise, another
Catholic priest named Fr. Francis, who came in from
Elele, Rivers State with two police escorts ordered the
security men to smash my camera which is worth
N300,000 to pieces, and they did. They also threatened
to shoot me if I didn’t tread with caution. After all
arguments, we agreed that the children should be taken
to either Enugu State University Teaching Hospital
(ESUTH) or University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital
(UNTH), Ituku Ozalla, Enugu State, but to my surprise
again, as soon as I left, they bundled the children in
that state to their headquarters at Elele, Rivers State.
“The children were kept incommunicado and detained in
the hospital too. It was through military assistance that
I was able to gain access to see them in the hospital
but they refused to release them to us for proper
medical care.” Federal High Court to the rescue
Unable to endure the continued detention of the
students at the Elele campus of the university and the
uncertainty and anxiety surrounding their health status,
Okoye through his lawyer, G. E. Ezeuko, SAN
approached the Federal High Court, Enugu, for the
enforcement of the fundamental human rights of the
students. He also slammed a civil suit against the
Governing Council of Madonna University and eight
other respondents, demanding N1billion compensation
for special and general damages and for gross violation
of fundamental human rights guaranteed under the
Constitution of Nigeria and African Charter on Human
and Peoples Rights.
